Windows In Our World

When students transition from the OSP to HNC campus, they must get acquainted with a new school building and a new house of worship. For this year's project, our fourth graders have created vibrant collage pieces inspired by segments of the stained-glass windows at Holy Name Cathedral. After viewing the windows at Holy Name and talking about composition, students in each homeroom began with a color hunt through a variety of magazines. This was followed by assembling different blocks of similar hues and arranging the various pieces into a pleasing composition. Each piece is mounted on cradled panel and sealed with gloss medium to protect against fading and give the ready-to-hang artwork a glassy look.

Dimensions for each piece are the same: 18H x 24W x 1.5D

Inspired by Indiana - "HOPE"

When our current sixth graders were in fourth grade, they each painted a piece of a puzzle that collectively recreated two of artist Robert Indiana's most iconic work. Two homerooms each created the word "HOPE" and the other two each created the word "LOVE." This was the first time that our students had worked with acrylic paint, detail paint brushes, and Mrs. Wenc as their Art Teacher. The pieces are framed and ready to hang.

Note: These pieces were created pre-pandemic but not able to be showcased when the world took a pause. Special thanks to Rachel Mason (former HNC Art Teacher) for keeping the artwork safe and secure until we could share it with our FXW families.
